By using an inhibitor and special inside treatment, the blood sample can be preserved for a longer period without its original status being changed and the metabolism of blood cells almost cease. Oxalate tubes are widely used to collet blood for glucose determinations. Sodium fluoride is used in glucose tube as glycolysis inhibitor to preserve glucose when combined with anticoatulant potassium oxalate.
