Delivery Time Delivery time for a mold can vary, depending upon the complexity and the amount of work required to build the mold. This lead time can vary from 6 to 20 weeks, and even longer for extremely large and complicated molds. With today’s business climate of compressed lead times, the moldmaker is taking more advantage of standardized mold bases, cavity inserts, components, designer options, and off-the-shelf accessories and is having the basic mold base supplier do more of the cavity pocket, waterline, and mold base machining. With more complicated tooling, including runnerless molding systems, the need to go with production- proven, off-the-shelf standardized components is increasing. These components will help the initial delivery and provide convenient and immediate availability of those items, should maintenance be required during the useful life of the mold.
