Importance of sprocket quenching
The surface of sprocket bears higher stress than that of its core due to alternating load or impact load caused by torsion or bending during the work.Its surface will be continually worn due to frictions, so the requirements for high strength, high hardness, high wear resistance and high fatigue limit, etc shall be specified for the sprocket, and these requirements can be satisfied only via surface hardening. Surface quenching or hardening is widely applied during the production due to small deformation or high production efficiency, etc.
Purposes of sprocket quenching
The purposes of sprocket quenching are to be changed into martensite or bainite structure from the cooled austenite, and increase the strength, hardness, wear resistance, fatigue strength or durability of steel greatly via different temperature tempering, so as to satisfy different operating requirements of parts and tools.
Quenching principles
Put the sprocket in the sensor wrapped with hollow copper tubes, form the same frequency sensing current on the sprocket surface after leading in medium or high-frequency alternating current, make the sprocket surface quickly heated (up to 800-1000 degree in several seconds, but its core still near to room temperature), and spray the water immediately on its surface for cooling (or soak it into oil) to make its surface layer hardened.
