What is a straight Bevel Gear?
Straight bevel gear is one type of bevel gears. Bevel gears are used to transfer motion and power between two intersecting shafts, which in general machinery have an angle of 90° (but are not intersecting at all). (It may also not be equal to 90°). Bevel gears also have the function of changing the direction of rotation of the shaft, similar to cylindrical gears, bevel gears have indexed cone, top cone, root cone and bottom cone. The cone has a big end and small end of the points, the corresponding big end of the circle is called the indexing circle (radius r), the top of the circle, the root of the circle and the base circle. The movement of a pair of bevel gears is equivalent to a pair of knuckle cones of pure rolling.
