Low energy consumption is why LED replacement bulb is considered extremely environmentally friendly. A typical incandescent light bulb operates by heating up a filament inside the bulb, which then gives off light, but also quite a lot of heat. The extra energy it takes to generate this heat is completely wasted since we only use the replacement bulb for light, and not usually for warmth. An LED replacement bulb does not have a filament, and instead emits light due to an internal chemical process. This means there is no need for heat, and thus your LED replacement bulb runs on a significantly smaller amount of energy. If a typical incandescent bulb runs at about 80 watts, a comparable LED replacement bulb might run at 11 watts. The energy savings are immediate and substantial.
