We have all had so called 'bad hair days' but has anyone experienced a bad baby stroller day? My estimation is that there is no such thing as bad baby strollers only very good baby strollers and incredible baby strollers.
How do you ascertain a good baby stroller or push chair or buggy over a bad one? Basically a good baby stroller is better than no baby stroller so who was the saint who came up with this incredible invention that we cannot live without. William Kent of England invented the very first type of buggy in 1733. Not a carer of children, William Kent was something of a celebrity gardener of his time who was commissioned by the Duke of Devonshire to construct some form of child carrier device. And so the very first baby stroller or push chair was born - a basket the shape of a shell on wheels that a child could be placed in and be pulled along by a small pony or a large goat (whichever was close to hand).
Within a hundred years, these baby 'carriages' were fairly commonplace (if it was good enough for Queen Victoria who liked the notion so much that she purchased three) but it was in 1889 that a reversible stroller was invented in order that the baby could see the pusher who was ideally the Mother or nanny. At this time, buggies were becoming more manoeuvrable and in the 1920’s everybody wanted a baby stroller.
Today, baby strollers are big business and have a greater focus on the safety aspect as well as packed with features. For a good baby stroller, parents should be prepared to pay upwards of two hundred pounds although there are some bargains to be had if you are prepared to shop around.
You may find the idea of a ‘travel system’ my appealing than a straightforward buggy or stroller. With this you get a detachable baby seat that can be switched between a buggy or pram. Additionally, a baby ‘travel system’ is a versatile piece of kit in that it’s detachable chassis can easily be folded down to be transported around in the car. A convenient mode of baby transport to say the least, the piece de resistance allows your baby to be attached to a safety fitting in the car without cause to wake him or her up. He or she can easily be removed from the car and taken into the home with little disturbance. This is the biggest bonus of the baby travel system, in my humble opinion, because anything that allows for undisturbed sleep, above all baby’s, is a top idea and one that should be rewarded suitably!
When it comes to buggies or baby strollers or pushchairs, it seems the experts have thought of everything! Even a buggy for twins! If you have twins, you will be pleased to hear you are now able to purchase tandem or side-by-side buggies.
