I always try to use the self-checkout lane at the grocery store, because the geniuses that bag in the regular lanes tend to use one plastic bag per item, unless it's eggs and then they pile 3 or 4 heavy things on top. It is an ingenious little plastic loop handle that allows you to slip on and carry multiple grocery bags up to 50 pounds at once without making endless back and forth trips to the car and without all the strain. Now all you have to do is unpack it all... and figure out what to do with 40 plastic bags...
