Choose the smallest insulin syringe that's big enough to hold the largest dose you take in a day. The smaller the insulin syringe, the easier it is to read the scale and draw up an accurate dose. For example, if your dosage is 20 units per day, you should choose 0.3 ml insulin syringe rather than 1/2 cc insulin syringe.
If your largest dose is close to the syringe's maximum capacity, you are supposed to buy the next size up to handle any increase in your dose adjustments. For example, if your dosage is 29 units and you buy a 3/10 mL U-100 insulin syringe, you won't be able to use them anymore if your doctor increases your dosage to 31 units.
