While my cat Cloe has no use for her scatching pad with ball, except to ocassionally sit on it, kitten Toby adores his scratching pad! This one has a mousy in it that he got for Christmas when he was a few weeks old and played with abandon! Where adult cats may play in bouts of fancy, kittens seem to play just for the sake of it. Now, I never saw him "scratch" the pad but the ball is fun and healthy amusement. While some cats may need to be encouraged to enjoy play, kittens are ready to pounce on an opportunity.
