The difference between ball mill and rod mill and their introduction
Both Ball mill and rod mill are universal grinding equipment, and their structure and operation style are the same. The difference lies in grinding media :ball mill`s are steel ball , rod mill`s are steel bar. That decides the two different purpose.
When ball mill operated , the cylinder rolled ,steel balls would be thrown into the air under their own inertia and frictional force of cylinder, and then dropt due to gravity, impacted to the material, thus would crush block material, and the small material would grind into powder .
When rod mill was in operation, it will drive steel rod at the same time . Because the weight was large, the steel rod only can be take up in a limited height , so the impact to materials is also weaker than ball mill. But it can also play the role of crushing and grinding. And rod mill an be transfortmed in to ball mill to meet two needs.
According to the working nature of the two media, we can learn that the ball mill suits for grinding hard materials, such as dry slag in industrial solid waste, and rod mill suits for grinding brittle materials, such as water slag in industrial solid waste.
Ball mill grinds finer, while rod mill treats more.
