There are a lot of things that you have to think about when you are putting in new floors. Most people tend to focus on how they look and how much they cost however there are other things that you need to think about. One of these things is how easy are the floors to clean? Far and away the easiest type of flooring to clean is linoleum. Really all that you have to do is run a mop over anything that is spilled on it and the problem is solved. This is why you see it used in places like kitchens and bathrooms all the time. These are the places where spills are most likely to occur so you are going to want to have something easy to clean. The downside of linoleum of course is that it is not the best looking of flooring options. This is less of a problem than it used to be since there are products available that are actually quite attractive. Nevertheless you problem don't want to have your whole house done in linoleum.

Since you likely don't want to have linoleum in the living room or the bedrooms you do need to consider other flooring options that are easy to clean. One that is good for these rooms is hardwood. In general hardwood floors these days can be cleaned with just a broom and a mop so there is really no major difficulty in cleaning them.

The problem is that it is a lot easier to damage hardwood than it is linoleum so a major spill could stain your floors so that no amount of cleaning will solve the problem. This is why you don't usually see them in kitchens.

Another great flooring option that is easy to clean is tile floors however this is going to depend on the kind of tiles that you get. There are some that are easy to clean and others that really aren't. The easy ones to clean are the ones that have a smooth surface, they can just be swept and mopped. The ones that are uneven and have more of a natural appearance have places for dirt to hide and are a lot more work to clean.

When you are choosing new floors how easy they are to clean should be a consideration but it can't be the only one that you make. You also have to think about things like how they look in your house, how easy they are to damage and how expensive it is to install. That being said these days you have plenty of options that are easy to clean, affordable and look great so you should have no real troubles making a great choice.
