1 Material choice: choose material sizes according to process drawings

2 Align seamless steel tube according to outer ring on common (horizontal) machine tool, with a proper location of one end set at the machine central frame. When cylinder length is above 1500mm frame both ends, the width of the central frame should be above 80 mm, machine until to round shape.

3 Use central frame, align with the central fame as a benchmark, set the level as the side faces of the central frame, machine the male cone whose conical degree according to that of the deep hole boring chuck cone disc and the oil charging set cone disc. Roughness 3.2um , conical degree 15°. As the following drawing:

 

Note : ΦD =  outer diameter of the cylinder   ΦD1 = size of the smaller end of the deep hole boring chuck cone disc    ΦD3 = inner diameter of the cylinder  L = length of the cylinder

Requirement : two cone surfaces must be the same axis as that of the central frame

4 Rough boring : Equip the rough boring guide sleeve of the deep hole drilling, put the working piece onto the deep hole drilling. Use tool setting gauge to adjust the tool tip size of the rough boring. Adjust the sizes of the guide block and support block with micrometer. Check that whether the guide block and the support block lie in the same circle or not, if not , make them in the same circle in this way: adjust the tool tip size to ΦD , guide block to ΦD03.001 .0 , support block to 0.02~0.03mm larger than that of the inner diameter of the rough boring guide sleeve. Check the tool tip and guide block with tool setting gauge , and make sure that the tool tip should be 2mm ahead of the axial direction of the guide block ( note : ΦD is the nominal size of the guide sleeve). Rough boring tool weight S 0.4~0.5m/r , rotating speed V40m/min, set the cutting fluid amount to max.

5 Half-precision boring: Equip the half-precision boring guide sleeve of the deep hole drilling. Adjust the sizes of the guide block and support block with micrometer. Check that whether the guide block and the support block lie in the same circle or not, if not , make them in the same circle in this way: Set the sizes of guide block, support block and tool tip as ΦD. Guide block ΦD03.001 .0, adjust support block to 0.02~0.03mm larger than that of the inner diameter of the half-precision boring guide sleeve. Check the tool tip and guide block with tool setting gauge , and make sure that the tool tip should be 2mm ahead of the axial direction of the guide block ( note : ΦD is the nominal size of the guide sleeve). Half-precision boring tool weight S 0.4~0.5m/r , rotating speed V40m/min, set the cutting fluid amount to maximum. Leave an allowance amount of 0.4~0.5mm in the half- precision drilled inner bore, and make sure that the straightness and axiality of the inner bore ≤0.03mm, roughness is 6.3um, make ready for floating boring.

6 Floating boring : Wash and clean the inner bore, equip the precision guide drilling. Adjust the sizes of the guide block and support block with micrometer. Check that whether the support block lie in the same circle or not, if not , make them in the same circle. Adjust sizes of the floating tool tip and the support block according to the attached table. S0.5~1mm/r,V40m/min,t≥0.03mm. Set the cutting fluid to normal. Make sure the surface roughness of the bore below 3.2um after processed. The floating boring makes sure the geometrical sizes and surface smoothness before rolling.

7 Rolling : Use rolling head, adjust the size of rolling head according to the attached table. Clean the inner surface of the cylinder before rolling. S0.6~1.5mm/r,V25~60m/min. Set the cutting fluid to minimum ( single pump), and adjust it to maximum when deceleration.

8 Check the size accuracy and inner surface roughness of the cylinder.

9 Process the cylinder according to sizes of the product drawing.
