Cutback Grade Bitumen is normally used in spraying and in some mixing applications. Cutback bitumen is penetration grade bitumen blended with a solvent such as kerosene, white spirit, gasoline and naphtha controlling the curing time. Cutbacks are divided into 3 types, Rapid Curing (RC), Medium Curing (MC) and Slow Curing (SC) depending on the solvent used. Commonly used for road and pavement construction and maintenance. Cutback RC 3000 is blended with a solvent such as Gasoline, a rapid curing petroleum cutter.
Advantage of cutback bitumen mixtures is the difference in the reduced paving temperature. Now a day's cutback bitumen are used mostly as prime coat and/or tack coat.
