There are mainly two parts in flange forging, one is open die forging, the other is die forging. The two parts have different supposes. During open die forging, the shapes of the dies are forged from semi-finished products step by step through basic deform processes.  The basic processes of open die forging includes upsetting, drawing out, punching, bending, cutting, etc.

The second part, the die forging, is to shape the forgings, make them to various flange forgings used in many ways. Put the heated semi-finished products into the forging die fixed on the die forging equipment to shape them. The die forging processes include material choice, heat, pre-forging, finish-forging, wad punching, side cutting, tempering, and shot blasting. Usual processes include upsetting, drawing out, bending, punching and shaping.

The flange is a kind of accessories used to link various tubes. There are two kinds of flanges, forging flanges and casting flanges. Compared with casting flange, the forging flanges contain fewer carbon, less easily to get rust. Talking to both linear function and mechanical function, forging flange is better than casting flange. Forging flange has the best mechanical function in all flanges. Usually, its raw material is tube, the tube is hammered after cut, in order to remove the disadvantages of steel ingot such as segregation and loose.

The material used to forge flanges mainly are carbon steel, alloy steel and stainless steel. The main anti-corrosion treatments are greasing and galvanization. The press and temperature endurance functions of forging flange are good, so the forging flange can be used under high pressure and high temperature working environment.
