Description:
Liquid crystals possess the mechanical properties of a liquid,but have the optical properties of a single crystal.Temperature changes can affect the color of a liquid crystal,which make them useful for temperature measurement.
There are two stages in the liquid crystals:
1.the hot nematic stage is the closest to the liquid phase where the molecules are freely moving around and only partly ordered.
2.The cold smectic stage is closest to a solid phase where the molecules align themselves into tightly wound chiral matrixes.
Liquid crystal thermometers portray temperatures as colors and can be used to follow temperature changes caused by heat flow.They can be used to observe that heat flows by conduction,convection,and radiation.
In medical applications,liquid crystal thermometers can be used to read body temperature by placing against the forehead.These are safer than a mercury-in-glass thermometer,and may be advantageous in some patients,but its measure result is just for you reference.
How to use Forehead thermometer?
- Please use this forehead thermometer at room temperature range 2225(or 72 77)
- Hold the forehead thermometer firmly by both ends and press against on Dry forehead for 15 seconds.
- Read Forehead thermometer while it is on the forehead.GREEN indicates correct temperature.
- TAN/RED=deduct 0.5(or 0.9).
- BLUE=plus 0.5 (or 0.9)
- Do not take temperature if you have been eating,drinking or exercising within at least 30 minutes;or if you just come in from outdoors.
- Forehead thermometer should be cleaned with a soft cloth and stored in its sleeve to keep away from sunlight and heat source
- Always consult your physician if you have a fever.
