Spherical roller bearings are double row, self-retaining units comprising inner rings with two raceways inclined at an angle to the bearing axis , outer rings with a common spherical raceway, spherical rollers, cages and in certain designs also internal guide rings or center rings. The bearings can also be sealed.
Due to the spherical internal shape of the outer ring and spherical rollers, the spherical roller bearings are self-aligning and insensitive to misalignment of the shaft relative to the housing, which can be caused, for example, by shaft deflection. They can accommodate both heavy radial load and axial loads.

Safe operating specification of the conveyor bearing
1. The operating personnel must have enough rest before working to ensure full energy at work. Make sure wearing protective equipment before work;
2. For all personnel, during the running of the conveyor idler, it forbids stepping over it and opening the cover board, and the sundries are forbidden to enter the conveyor idler bearing;
3. The torque converter must use specified oil by rule, and the protective shield must be used;
4. If you are not the worker operating the conveyor idler bearing, it is forbidden to enter the passageway of the conveyor idler;
5. It is forbidden for the conveyor idler to work over load;
6. Before the work, check all the components by rule and do the idle running to confirm the machinery is up to the requirements. Check the communication equipment system to confirm the signal clear and exact;
7. After all the check to confirm everything is ok, send the safety confirmation message to the Central Control System, and record the time and name of the operating personnel;
8. Do all the machinery operation according to the signal sent by the Central Control System strictly, and it is forbidden for the operating personnel to check the components which are running;
9. Control the delivery value of the conveyor idler according to the demands of delivery rules to prevent the materials from overflowing or suffering extrusion;
10. It is forbidden for the spot operating personnel to open the protective shield to do the maintenance;
11. We must clear away the material in the conveyor idler bearing before stopping the work to make the machinery stay in the idling condition, and then stop the machine;
12. After the work, do comprehensive clearance and maintenance to the conveyor idler bearing, such as the lubrication and rust protection. If the water cleaning is needed, the electronic components of the machinery should be covered closely to prevent it from being damped.

What is the difference between using a shield or a seal as a ball bearing closure?
Shields or seals are often installed to retain lubricant and to prevent contamination from entering the bearing. While a shield contacts the outer ring and does not come in contact with the inner ring, the seal generally comes in contact with both the inner and outer rings. Torque or drag is lower with a shield than with a seal. Alternately, the seal provides a higher degree of protection from contamination. Shields and seals are available in a variety of materials and configurations.
