Ferrosilicon is made up of coke, scrap steel, quartz (silica). Silicon and oxygen are easily to form nanosilica. So ferrosilicon is often used as the deoxidizer in steelmaking, while at the same time may be used to release heat in the SiO2 evolution. In the deoxidization, it can raise the temperature and reduce the energy consumption. Ferrosilicon, which is often used as the metallic additive, may be used in the producing of low alloy steel, structural steel, spring steel, bearing steel, heat-resistant steel and electrical silicon steel, monocrystaline silicon and non-ferrous alloys.
