Brown Aluminium Oxide is an artificial corundum. It is fused in an electric arc furnace at temperatures above 2000℃ from a mixture of mainly calcined bauxite, iron filings and coke. The synthetic ingots are crushed, magnetically separated, water-washed and screened to produce a complete range of grit sizes.
