The steel is developed with martensitic precipitation-hardening stainless steel on the basis of 05Cr17Ni4Cu4Nb and has high intensity, high transverse toughness and good forgeability; it has better corrosion resistance than general martensitic stainless steel and has similar corrosion resistance to 05Cr17Ni4Cu4Nb steel.
It is mainly used in making parts requiring high intensity, good toughness and double corrosion resistance, such as forge piece with high intensity, valve parts of high-pressure system, parts of plane, etc.
Precipitation-Hardening Stainless Steel is chromium and nickel containing steel, which is a perfect combination of Martensitic Steel and Austenitic Steel grades. Precipitation-Hardening Stainless Steel Bar bears all the merits of Maraging Steel, such as high tensile strengths and inherits the advantage of Austenitic Stainless Steel, like corrosion resistance. They can be supplied in a "solution treated" condition, which is readily machineable.
The most well-known precipitation Precipitation-Hardening Stainless Steel isX5CrNiCuNb17-4, whose name comes from the additions 17% Chromium and 4% Nickel. It also contains 4% Copper and 0.3% Niobium. X5CrNiCuNb17-4 Precipitation-Hardening Stainless Steel is also known as type SUS630.
According to the final microstructures after heat treatment of Precipitation-Hardening Stainless Steel, they can be classified into three types, those are, martensitic, semi-austenitic and austenitic Precipitation-Hardening Stainless Steel.
The main different properties of Precipitation-Hardening Stainless Steel are as follows:
Yield strengths are 515 to 1415 MPa, and cold working before ageing can be used to facilitate even higher strengths.
Tensile strengths range from 860 to 1520 MPa.
Elongations are 1 to 25%.
