Serial Digital Interface (SDI) is a standard for digital video transmission over coaxial cable - the same cable used for Analog security systems. This makes it easy to convert from Analog to SDI because you don't have to re-cable and you don't need networking knowledge to set up the system. HD-SDI has an advantage over Analog systems in that it supports high resolution cameras.
