It would also require a small forest to be chopped down to supply me with the amount of paper towels I would need to get the job done. One day, while in a hardware store, I came across a squeegee. I had seen people clean windows with squeegees in seconds flat, so I decided to buy one. Sometime that afternoon, I figured that it was time to take my squeegee for a test run. How hard could it be? Well, try as I might, I just couldn't get the windows to look good at all. I had a good friend over who laughed at the streaks in my windows. Somehow she knew that I had attempted to clean my windows with a squeegee and offered to show me how to use one properly. Here is how it's done.

Using a spray bottle or a rag, apply the window cleaner. Clean the rubber blade of the squeegee with a wet cloth so that the blade will slide smoothly across the glass surface.
Tilt the squeegee at an angle. With the squeegee in the top left corner of the window pull horizontally across the glass.
Wipe the rubber blade with a wet cloth. Place the blade on the bottom edge of the area that was just cleaned. Pull the blade down until it reaches the bottom of the window. Repeat this process across the entire window. Make sure that the squeegee overlaps into the clean areas to ensure that none of the window cleaner is missed. This will also reduce streaks in the window.
Tip: Make sure to clean the blade after each pass. Any buildup on the rubber blade will cause streaks to appear on the window.
And that my friends, is how to use a squeegee. It is not too hard. I think the most common mistake people make when using a squeegee is not making that first pass up at the top of the window. This is very important. Also, making sure that you wipe the blade after every pass. I did not know this when I first began. The squeegee picks up all the dirt, fly poop, you name it, and when you take it to the top of the window, all of this gunk breaks the contact of the rubber edge to the window.
