Gypsum in its crystal form is found in sedimentary rock formations and, after it is dried, is crushed into a fine powder. Each hundred pounds of gypsum rock contains about ten quarts of chemically combined water. By gypsum dryer, it is heated to a minimum temperature of 350 degrees Fahrenheit, which causes the evaporation of 3/4 of this water.
Principle of gypsum dryer
Gypsum powder is sent into drum by feed. As drum rotates, gypsum moves forward slowly. At the same time, it is lifted and scattered by lifting boards repeatedly. Under high temperature and strong airflow, gypsum gets full contact with hot air. Most moisture is removed during this process. Dried gypsum gets discharged at the outlet of gypsum dryer.
