For centuries, the crude extracts of saw palmetto have been used to improve sperm production and to increase breast size and sexual vigor, but its most effective and only scientifically based use is to improve symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH).
Any of various palmaceous shrubs of genus Saw Palmetto, native to wet hassock, dene pines and kargeleaf hardwoods of southeast coast of America, having sector leaves that are strip and sword shaped, Kelly flowers and ivory petals. The berry is 2 cm long and it becomes ripe between September and October.
