1. Welding Column & Boom Manipulators
A welding manipulator or a set of welding rotators are designed to move the work piece under the welding head. The welding column & boom manipulator moves the welding head over the work-piece safely and efficiently to provide a quality welding solution.
Column & boom manipulators have many different designs and configurations depending upon the welding procedure, automation integration and deposition rates required.
A column & boom manipulator can be very large with a high load capacity boom arm and enough rigidity to carry an operator or it can be a simple column & boom combination designed to hold a wire spool, the welding head and controls.
Column & boom welders were initially designed to save labour costs, an automated welding head on a column does not get tired or fatigued; a welder does. The column & boom welder can produce constant weld-metal deposition until the job is completed, no matter how long it takes. It is not uncommon to find a thick walled pressure vessel that needs 150mm groove-weld, filled continuously over 12 hours or more, one column & boom welder can hold a number of power sources and welding heads, single wire, twin wire, power waves, AC/DC and do the entire job non-stop.
Friendship Machinery manipulator is designed to manipulate weld heads/ torches for automatic or semi-automatic welding of tanks, pipes, pressure vessels, etc.
They are often used in conjunction with Turning Rolls to weld circumferential and/or longitudinal seams.
Equipped with 360° swivel rotation, with locking capabilities at 90° increments.
● Steady torch positioning with remote operator controls
● Inside, outside, longitudinal and circumferential welding capabilities
● Boom is equipped with variable travel speed
● Mast is equipped with safety anti-fall mechanism
● All motions controlled through control panel, standard pendant, or optional HMI touch screen
