Dyneema is an UHMwPE (Ultra High Molecular weight Polyethylene) fibre developed by DSM in the Netherlands little over 20 years ago. An ingredient material in many of our ropes, Dyneema is light weight and renowned as "The World's Strongest FibreTM". So what makes Dyneema so special?

High Strength: On a weight for weight basis, Dyneema is 15 times stronger than steel wire
Light Weight: Size for size, Dyneema is 8 times lighter than steel wire. Strength for Strength Dyneema is 15 time lighter than steel wire. Dyneema also has a Specific Gravity of 0.97 which means it floats in water
Water resistant: Dyneema is hydrophobic and does not absorb water, meaning it remains light when working in wet conditions and is there also more durable
Chemical resistance: Dyneema is chemically inert, and performs well in dry, wet, salty and humid conditions, as well as other situations where chemicals are present.
UV Resistant: Dyneema has very good resistance to photo degradation, maintaining its performance when exposed to UV light.

Safety:Dyneema has a very low elongation (stretching). It stores little energy and therefore has little backlash-even at hundreds of tons of load.
Compared to steel cable, Dyneema requires much less tension to hang webbing because of its light-weight.

Durability:Dyneema is resistant to chemicals, acids and oil substances. It has excellent abrasion resistancecompared to other synthetic fibres (5 times better than polyester).

Light weight: all ropes can be heavy and difficult to handle. Nanyue's ropes with Dyneema are up to 28%* lighter than regular polyester ropes, making them easier and safer to handle for the whole family. The fact that ropes made with Dyneema absorb significantly less water means that they remain easy to handle even when wet.
Low stretch: at 30% of break load, polyester halyards can stretch by 8%, affecting the set of the sail and handling of the boat. Nanyue's halyards with Dyneema eliminate this worry, allowing you to concentrate on enjoying yourself!


The use of Dyneema is not confined only to the sailors. Ropes with Dyneema are replacing steel wire in many varied applications and Nanyue as ever are at the forefront of the Dyneema revolution.Chief among these new applications is wire rope replacement on winches. Dyneema Technology for standing rigging

Dyneema's Technology is not only lightweight, strong and reliable but it withstands high static loads with only very limited permanent elongation – even in the most extreme environments and for long periods of time. 

Thoroughly tested
To measure the elongation over time we conducted accelerated tests, which showed a rate up to just 0.3% permanent elongation over 25 years. It means the material is ideal for long-term static use in standing rigging applications; but also in the world's largest yacht races where running rigging is exposed to long, continuous loads.

Safer standing rigging
When lines made from Dyneema's are put under prolonged tension they don't start to fray and fishhook. In fact the lines remain flexible and comfortable to the touch - which of course makes them safer and easier to handle. In the unlikely event of a rope breaking, compare to a steel wire rope the recoil force is far less with no snaking – which makes it safer than steel.

The combination of slim, lightweight, and a smaller diameter adds up to low windage. About Overhead Power Transmission Lines Construction

Overhead power lines are the infrastructure for electric power transmission and distribution along large distances. It consists of one or more conductors suspended by towers or utility poles. Since most of the insulation is provided by air, overhead power lines are generally the lowest-cost method of power transmission for large amounts of electric energy.

Transmission-class line construction is very specialized. Compared to distribution construction, structures are taller, spans are longer, conductors are larger/heavier/stiffer, and pulls are longer and can extend over steep and very uneven terrain. In addition, aluminum conductors vary in construction requirements, calling for special handling techniques, tools, and equipment.

Transmission construction also involves different line and structure designs, as well as different conductor configurations (including simultaneous stringing of multiple conductors ('bundles") using a single pulling line). About Optical Ground Wire(OPGW)

Optical ground wire (OPGW) is a type of cable used in the construction of electric power transmission and distribution lines. This cable combines grounding and data transmission functions.
The OPGW cable are located at the ends of high-voltage pylons: its conductive part serves to bond adjacent towers to earth ground and shields the high-voltage conductors from lightning strikes. The optical fibers within the cable can be used for high-speed data transmission.
