Graphite Electrode and Nipples( GE E/N in short):
a. RP(Regular Power): Diameter 75mm upto 600mm; Length 1600mm to 1800mm. Allowable current density less than 17A/Cm2, mainly for smelting steel, sllicon, and yellow phosphorus; common power electric furnace. |
b. HP(High Power): Diameter 200 to 600mm; Length 1800 to 2400mm. Allowable current density 18-25A/Cm2, used for steel smelting high power E-arc furnace. |
c. UHP(Ultra High Power): Diameter 300mm to 600mm; Length 1800 to 2700mm. Allowable current density moren than 25A/Cm2, alloy steel making E-arc furnace with toppest power. |
d. Functions: Graphite electrodes are used in steel making with electric furnace, or with submerged arc furnaces to smelt ferroalloy, or wth resistance furnace. Through graphite electrode, electric current are introduced and produces electrical arc in smelting surrendings. When temperature reaches 2000 degree, smelting begins. The above mentioned electrodes are applied for coomon E-furnace and high power E-furnace with high voltage and short electric arc. |
e. Advantages: Low sulgur high density; Extraordinary performance in heat conductivity and anti-oxidation. Low consumption rate in quantity and power loss during smelting. Low resistivity but high bending&compressive strength. |
