Steel wire used in the manufacture is hot-dip galvanizing or galfan(zinc 95%, aluminum 5%). If it is required, 0.5 mm thick PVC is then coated on the galvanized/galfan wire to provide added protection for use in aggressive environments with acidic soils and water, in salt or fresh water or wherever the risk of corrosion is present. In order to reinforce the structure, the edge wire has a greater diameter than the mesh wire.The gabion box is divided into units by means of diaphragms positioned at approximately 1m centres.
Low Construction Cost. Gabions & Reno Mattress installations are very cost effective. It is easy to construct, requiring limited equipment, unskilled labor, minimal foundation preparation, no drainage provisions, and the filling stones are generally provided by a local stone or rock supplier. Gabion & Reno Mattress structures require very little cost if designed and built properly. It can be a permanent structure.
