About Steel Guy Strands

Combine the strength of high carbon steel wire with the excellent corrosion resistance of electro galvanization, hot-dip zinc coating. Add a long history of service to the transmission industry, the pre-engineered building industry, the construction industry, and municipalities and you get strand that you can count on year after year.

ASTM A475 is used as a messenger cable for guying high-performance communications cables and electrical conductors.
Under full-load conditions the tension in the messenger must not exceed 60% of its min. break strength.
ASTM A363 only applies to overhead ground or static wire (typically high-strength or utilities grade).
ASTM A363 does not have joints or strand splices in any length; lightning travels safely to the ground without resistance.

 

About EHS (Extra High Strength) 

Extra High Strength (EHS) galvanized cable (1x7 construction up to 5/8", 1x19 construction for 3/4") is designed for bracing and tensioning applications. It is commonly used by arborist and linemen in guying / tensioning applications because it has very little stretch.

 

Typical applications:

Overhead ground wire strand for power transmission lines 

Messenger strand for telephone and CATV lines 

Guy strand for power distribution poles, telephone poles and microwave and radio towers 

Wind bracing in pre-engineered buildings 

Barrier cable and guard rail strand 

Other guying applications where small size, high strength and corrosion resistance are necessary
