Constructions

Composite Pipe is produced using welded aluminum pipe as a core, with an extruded inside layer of cross-linked polyethylene or polyethylene. An adhesive layer is used to bond the inside layer to the wall of the aluminum pipe. An outer layer of cross-linked polyethylene or polyethylene and an adhesive layer is extruded to the outer wall of the aluminum pipe.

Composite Pipe of Hansen can be classified into two categories per the differential welding techniques of medium aluminum pipe:

 
Type A refers to Overlapping-Welded aluminum pipe
Type B refers to Butt-Welded aluminum pipe

These two kinds have their different fields of application. Generally speaking, type B can satisfy even more stringent requirements. They equally comply with ASTM F1281 (ASTM F1282) and ASTM F1335 respectively.

  • Type and Dimensions

    Hansen Composite Pipe can also be divided into the following types:

    Tap water Pipe
    HD Polyethylene Inner Pipe, code" C ", white or blue normally;

    Hot Water pipe
    Cross-linked Polyethylene Inner Pipe, code " H ", normally orange;

    Gas pipe
    Special Polyethylene for gases or cross-linked polyethylene Inner Pipe, code " G ",
    black or yellow normally;

     
    Performances
      The ideal combination of an aluminum metallic core with plastic inner and outer pipe creates a homogeneous and non-delaminating composite pipe, thus offering respective advantages of metal and plastic while eliminating their specific disadvantages when used separately. ollowing are its remarkable features:

  • Excellent Thermal Properties:
     

    0.45w/m.k value of thermal conductivity coefficient is far smaller than that of metallic pipe (for instance, the corresponding value of Zinced Steel Pipe, while times greater than that of common Thermal Insulation Material;
    25×10-6m/m.k value of thermal expansion coefficient, just 1/8 of PE pipe’s, nearly comparable with aluminum products;

       
  • Long Service Life:
     

    OIT Test(Oxidization Induce Time Test) by National Research & Test Center of Chemical Architectural Materials proves that Hansen Composite Pipe have 52 years’ anti-oxidization service life even at 95?

      The inner layer made of PE (-X) reliably prevents corrosion-related incrustations and thus narrowing of the pipe’s cross section as well as pitting and crevice corrosion, therefore ideal choice for medical or chemical tubing systems;

  • Hot and Cold Pressure Cycling:
      Pressure cycle composite pipe under hot and cold test condition for 5000 cycles. The pressure cycle shall be 1000 kpa at temperature of 93?±5? and 20?±5?, alternating continuously between the hot and the cool every 15±2 min. There should not be any leakage of the tested pipe.
       
  • Water Hammer Test:
      The test equipment will deliver at room temperature pressure cycle of 100±50Kpa and 2500±50Kpa alternating continuously between 100 Kpa and 2500 Kpa 30±5 times per min. To be tested composite pipe shall not fail when subjected to 10000 cycles.
       
  • Delaminating Strength:
      Composite pipe shall not delaminate when tested with the adapter tool, which is about 115% times great of the inner pipe diameter. The adapter tool is inserted inside the composite pipe to the marked depth. No delamination of bond shall occur.
       
  • Fusion Line Test:
      No visible damage shall appear on the fusion line or any place of the aluminum section when tested with the above-described adapter tool, which should be nearly 30% greater than the inner pipe diameter.
       
  • Adhesion of Inter-layers:
      Inner and outer between-layers adhesion strength of the butt-welded composite pipe should be greater than 20N/cm.
       
  • Gel Content (Cross-linking Degree):
      The gel content of the cross-linked polyethylene is supposed to be greater than 65%.
       
  • Vacuum Depression Test:
      No system leakage shall occur when tested at 0.02 Mpa continuously for 1 hour.
       
  • Linear Expansion Properties:(refers to the diagraph)

    Installation
    Hansen composite pipe has been developed to install tens or even hundreds of meters in succession, it can be bent easily therefore reducing joints greatly. They are easy to use, physically undemanding and time-saving.

    # microscope---for observation of each layer¡¯s construction, accuracy of testing can be as small as 0.1mm;
    # Thermal Cycling Testing Equipment---for testing system stability of composite pipe together with fittings at periodical variation of hot and cold temperature.
    # Water Hammer Test Equipment---for testing system endurance of composite pipe together with fittings at continuous variation of pressure.
    # Creep Test Basin---for testing the service life of composite pipe;
    # Computer-controlled Tensile Testing Machine---for testing the adhesion between each layer, characterized by high automation and accurate data gathering. The controllable Temperature Tank is used to stimulate environment for testing the adhesion between layers of composite pipe at the variation of hot and cold temperature.
