Cellulose Ethers for Construction Coating
Cellulose ether thickeners have always been one of the most important rheological additives for waterborne coating, hydroxyethyl cellulose ether (HEC) being the most widely used among them.
Advantages of Jianxin's HEC:
1,High thickening efficiency
Compared with other HECs of the same viscosity, Jianxin HEC can increase the thickening effect of the coating by 10~20%. This can not only save raw material cost, but also increase the water resistance and scrub resistance of the coating because of the reduction in the amount of the thickening agent.
2,Good compatibility
Jianxin HEC is a non-ionic soluble cellulose ether and is compatible with various additives for polymer emulsions and waterborne coatings (such as dispersant, wetting agent, filming forming aid, fungicide, pH adjuster, polyurethane thickening agent), the pigment and the like, and no chemical reaction happens between them, which is beneficial to the storage stability of the water-based coating and paint.
3,Excellent storage stability
Jianxin HEC has good enzyme resistance due to suitable substitution degree and uniform etherification. The viscosity of water- based coating made with Jianxin HEC drops a little after storing for a period of time, which prevents sedimentation of pigment and filler effectively to give a long shelf time.4,Excellent workability
The workability of water -based paints produced with Jianxin HEC is outstanding.
Water-borne coatings should have thixotropic properties under shear forces. As the shear force increases, the viscosity decreases and remains for a short period of time as the shear force decreases,which optimizes the application performance of the coating. Coating has good splatter resistance and can be applied( painting, rolling, spraying and other methods ). A wet coating film can be formed on a dry substrate.
5,Prevent filler from precipitating and flocculating
Cellulose ethers provide the water-based coating with a suitable consistency to prevent the pigment and filler from sedimenting in the static state, and the water-based coating has a good appearance when opening. Jianxin HEC is good to the dispersion of pigments and fillers and the stability of polymer emulsions. Flocculation of pigments and fillers does not happen, and the color of waterborne coating film is uniform.
6,Water retention
Jianxin HEC provides waterborne coatings with high water retention. Even when applied on a dry or a highly water-absorptive substrate, or under conditions of high ambient temperature and fast wind speed, the film of water-based coating can be uniformly formed without cracks and chalking.
