Bobbin EFD (Inductor Bobbin) belongs to core with bobbin and has the features of Low profile. Rectangular center leg, hence higher means length per turn (MLT). Terminating multi-filar windings to EFD bobbin pins is difficult. The advantage of using ferrite bobbin EFD is lower cost and ease in manufacturing, especially for high volume. Because of lower cost, if the volume is very large, ferrite bobbin EFD custom transformer is the way to go. There are Horizontal orientation with through-holes and surface-mount terminals. Available in themoset and thermoplastic.
