Wavelength locker for DFB laser

The stabilization modules for distributed feedback (DFB) lasers are another common application for fiber Bragg gratings (FBGs). The pump laser stabilizer acts as a reflective mirror outside the pump laser module. It reflects a small portion of light back to the laser diode cavity, inducing a laser emission at the desired wavelength. The spectrum of the FBG stabilizer can be customized to fit the best performance of the laser output. This is particularly applicable to pump lasers for 980nm and 1480nm Erbium-doped fiber amplifiers (EDFAs), as well as DWDM modules for the 1300 nm and 1550 nm bands. Wavelength lockers can be produced at wavelengths such as 1064 nm, even with polarization-maintaining (PM) fiber.
