Optical rotation -37.5 to -42.50 at 20℃ 5% w/v solution in toluene.

APPLICATIONS
Mode of action: As a Pyrethroid, Esbiothrin acts by contact or by ingestion and is not a systemic insecticide. Esbiothrin reaches the nerve-endings of insects and causes the interruption of communication with the brain. After a period of excitation and convulsions, insects are paralyzed (Knock-Down) and then they die. The addition of Piperonyl Buotoxide (or S2) reduces the recovery ability of insects, and consequently improves the efficacy of Bioallethirn.
Uses: Esbiothrin is a pyrethroid insecticide with a broad spectrum, acting by contact and ingestion characterized by its strong knockdown effect. It is effective against most
flying and crawling insects, in particular mosquitoes, flies, cockroaches, etc. Esbiothrin is widely used for the manufacture of insecticide mats, coils and liquid emanators. It is also widely used in solutions designed for aerosols, and in the formulation of liquid insecticides. The addition of Piperonly Butoxide (or S2) a synergist greatly improves the efficacy of Esbiothrin in terms of killing propertie(as) s, while significantly reducing the cost price of the formulation.

MAMMALIAN TOXICOLOGY
A number of toxicological studies carried out and others in support of registrative applications in many countries, shows Esbiothrin to be one of the safest insecticides ever developed. Its main toxicity values are specified below:
Acute toxicity:
LD50 oral (rat) 378-432 mg/kg(in corn oil)
LD50 dermal(rat) >2000 mg/kg
LC50 inhalation (rat) >2.63 mg/l
Irritancy:
Eye irritancy - Non irritancy
Skin irritancy - Non irritancy
Sensitization:
Skin sensitization - Non sensitizing

ENVIRONMENTAL FATE
Esbiothrin is degraded in sunlight.
Toxicity towards warm-blooded wild animals:
A diet containing 4500mg/kg of technical Esbiothrin did not produce any negative effects on rats fed on 2y basis.
Toxicity towards aquatic organisms:
LC50 value referred to Daphnia Magna is lower than 1 mg/l, hence the classifications in the European Union of Esbiothrin as an aquatic hazardous substance.
Toxicity towards useful insects:
Esbiothrin is toxic towards honeybees and aquatic organisms.
Toxicity classes: WHO(a.i) II
