Like other straight chromium grades, Type Stainless Steel 430 Sheet annealed is subject to stretcher strains. Skin of Stainless Steel 430 Sheet passing following annealing greatly reduces this possibility although this reduces ductility somewhat. Likewise a condition akin to stretcher strains may sometimes develop during deep drawing known as roping. The roping of Stainless Steel 430 Sheet is characterized by the appearance of shallow ridges and valleys in the side walls and caused by excessive stretching.
